Rise Planters in Blue

In This Blog:

Architectural Supplements’ recycled and reclaimed plant pots give new life to old products that have already had a useful life in another form. Some eco-friendly planters are made from post-consumer recycled plastic, others from reclaimed barn wood, and some from retired shipping pallets.

What is Post-Consumer Recycled Plastic?

Post-consumer recycled plastic is plastic product that has already completed its lifecycle as a consumer item and has been formally recycled. Some post-consumer items that may have been recycled and used for this purpose are old computer cases, keyboards, beverage bottles and phones. Usually, these items are sorted by material, then purchased by companies with the intention of melting them into small pellets that will eventually be molded into new items.

The Importance of Recycled Plant Pots

Recycled planter pots are important because it reduces the amount of waste that sits in landfills. It has been estimated that since the early 1950s, almost 5 billion tons of plastic has ended up in either a landfill or our natural environment (UNEP, 2021). It can take anywhere from twenty to five hundred years for plastic to break down, which is way too slow for the rate we are producing it. Additionally, waste from landfills or our natural environments repeatedly ends up in our oceans. Reusing old materials to create new products is one way we can combat this issue.

Using recycled planters reduces pollution, but there are so many more benefits than just that. Recycled planters also save energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce the need to harvest new raw materials. It is where Architectural Supplements recycled and reclaimed planters make a difference.

The Phoenix Collection

The Phoenix Collection by Architectural Supplements is a recycled and reclaimed planter collection made from post-consumer recycled plastic.

A “Phoenix” is a mythical bird that is known for rising from its ashes as a form of renewal or rebirth. The same concept applies to Architectural Supplements Phoenix Collection. ASI’s Phoenix goes through stages of breaking down the layers of the old, with the intention of creating something beautiful and new. From the ashes Phoenix rises and brings durability, cost-efficiency, and eligibility for LEED credits.

The Phoenix Collection offers a large variety of shapes to choose from to suit your any planting need. There are cylinders, squares, tall vases, tall squares, and rectangles. These planters are available in almost any color you can imagine, with a gloss, matte, metallic or gemstone finish. Next day shipping is available for Matte Black, Silver, Gunmetal, and Warm White Matte when in stock. This product line has optional compatible internal pedestals, caster platforms, hard liners, and top-dressing collars. Whatever planting needs you have, Phoenix can help!

Phoenix is one of our most popular product lines for a reason! It is reliable, versatile, and it makes a difference; it is the Phoenix difference.

Our Rise Collection is made from post-consumer recycled plastic. It is available in all Earth Forms finishes, including Burnished Steel and Burnished Bronze. Some of the shapes offered include cylinders, squares, tall vases, tall squares, and rectangles. Rise also has optional caster platforms, liners, and pedestals available to support your specific planting needs. Additionally, this collection offers sub-irrigation and foam pedestals.

These eco-friendly planters are lightweight, LEED eligible, and great for both indoor and outdoor settings.

The Epic Collection

Reclaimed Wood Planter Epic Collection
The Epic Collection by Architectural Supplements.

The Epic Collection is a beautiful and functional reclaimed wood planter collection. Barns built from Douglass Fir have stood for centuries in some cases. As the barns fall out of use, the wood is reclaimed. Then, the wood is milled to our specifications. Our craftsmen then cut and shape the wood into square and rectangular panels. We then tightly adhere these to a durable fiberglass planter shell.

The fiberglass shells are water-tight, but holes can be drilled in the bottoms for exterior use. The fiberglass shells can be painted in any of our standard colors and are also available in two durable, textured, exterior finishes: grey and bronze. The barnwood remains in its natural, weathered state, with stunning variety and diversity.

Castor platforms are available for this unique product line.

The Salvaged Wood Collection

In a process known as upcycling, the Salvaged Wood Collection is made from pine that is reclaimed from used pallets and shipping crates. The wood is carefully cleaned, planed, and sanded before being assembled into a variety of sized and shaped planters. Finally, we finish the planter with a light, water-based sealant that helps maintain the pine’s natural weathered look.

Each one of the Salvaged Wood planters holds one or more liners made from recycled plastic. The recycled plastic liners keep the planters watertight.

These planters are strong, highly functional, and recommended for indoor use only.
